It could well be the same stuff. I've always assumed the "kano kroil" name was a play on "can of kroil", since the stuff comes in a tin can similar to 3-in-1.

The first couple of times you use Kroil on the pivot you'll be horrified at what comes out. That stuff penetrates everywhere and pulls out crud from places nothing else can get to.
