I'm using the handamerican stuff. They claim it's 60k grit, but accepted wisdom around here is that it's 0.5 micron. This may be due to the different grit standards.

I think the wood just doesn't hold as much paste...
I think the wood just doesn't hold as much paste as the leather, so it's cutting slower. I've got a theory as to why the edge seems stronger as well, but I'm not sure how to test it.
