That would certainly explain the notching on the lead spacer. Somebody put the blade in a set of scales they had, but they were a tad short so they notched out the spacer, badly, I might add.

Newbie question here: Do you really think those scales are salvageable? If you look at the spacer end, they look really badly chewed up to me.
