YMMV, but I think you need to have the edge...
YMMV, but I think you need to have the edge exposed to the power of the pyramid. The way you've done it you'll probably end up with spine wear and little else. Clearly you are a pyramid noob. :)

Similar research has come out of South America...
Similar research has come out of South America and the El Castillo pyramid. They found, however, that the pyramid alignment needed to be south-north.
