The DMT 8C (325) has worked perfectly fine for me.
I have the DMT 8F (600) as well, but it is not necessary.
I tried loose abrasive on a lapping plate and sanding paper.
But nothing worked as good...

I used my Shapton 16k with soap and lather for a long time
and it did not affect it.
You still have a very nice stone that you eventually will fall in love with :beer1:
