Should I have a couple days growth for my first shave? Or is less better?

The blade was purchased from classic shaving. But, I would still like to purchase strop and ensure the blade stays sharp. I am excited to use the blade but do not want to rush and have bad experience.

The paperwork with blade stated Pre-sharpened. Does this mean that it is good to go, or should I have honed?

Just got straight razor for gift. Not sure where to start. It is a DOVO Classic 4/8 Black Straight Razor. I also have brush and shaving mug soap.

I was wondering best way to start.
