Yes it will work the bone is not a lot harder than wood. As a matter of fact I use a wood rasp to get my rough shape on my scales because I do not like the dust from sanding.

I used a trashed woodworking blade. It was a 1/4 inch around 6 or 8 tpi I do not remember it was a blade that I ran into a drywall screw. A standard wood cutting blade works fine.

I cut them out on the band saw using an old blade. The bone is not that hard to work. It does stink though when you work it.

bone scales
Here is my first set of bone scales, it is a Robeson blade with a bocote wedge. I cut the bone from a bone from the pet store. I will see how they work out.
