If the SRD paddle is the same as the SRD modular paddle, no treatment is needed. I heat my mod paddle up with a bit of hand rubbing first. It helps the draw on the Premium I leather.

I truly have no idea.....it's feels like a dense cotton, but I'm probably wrong.

The hard felt it a nice sound and a nice feel. I've also got the SRD Premium fabric. It has a great feel and a bit of a lower pitch when you "zip" the razor across it.
