Thanks for the comments. The dremel got the shape 90% there relatively quickly, but removing the grind marks and getting the lines to flow where the shoulders used to be took a looong time - a month...

holli4pirating, here's a pic of the blade before. Lots of nice stamps, and of course the big crack to boot. The stamps were a worthy sacrifice in the end IMO, at least its good to go for another 100+...
