Is the micarta blade made from a mixture of metal as in "damascus" steel? I thought those blades were the same as the Dovo 41's.

One thing to note is that the Pearlex comes in a stainless steel version as well. The stainless steel Pearlex does not have as much gold wash on it, which I think is a plus. Let us know what you get...
