Would it be a good idea to use a tap and die set...
Would it be a good idea to use a tap and die set to open threads on the tensioner plate and the main rod? Thanks.

Very nice! Just an idea for long ones it might be...
Very nice! Just an idea for long ones it might be better to put an extra fixed plate somewhere in the middle so that leather stays flat all the time.
