The dressing does tend to pull the color right out of a strop. Maybe it is stained or it just drew some of the dark coloring out from the dye used in the strop.

I have had the same thing when I used Fromm strop dressing. if you leave too much on the surface overnight the thinner lois and conditioners soak into the leather but the solids stay on the surface...
