Actually they do work well with a new thin leather. Usually they come with a DE blade holder also. It looks like a shavette with a spine like a straight.

Some folks get the century naming wrong. 19th or late 18th, perhaps would be more accurate. Appears to be a French blade with no monkey tail.

There is a company that makes"historical" blade RSO's. The etch is factual.
Out of the box, they look 1800's. Be careful out there!

He must've found some of the "good stuff!" Lucky he wasn't pulled over by the constabulary. A polished bit of fecal matter, not a custom nor an RSO.

I'll weigh in on this one. I often shave with a Kamisori, real and replaceable blade. I like an "UP" grip. What he did was, in my opinion, taking a dirt common blade and making a one handed usable...
