Saves getting out a coarser hone when doing a refresh. Having a good lapped finisher and some lapping paper can be a winner sometimes.

I just use a bit or Corian counter top material..or a board across the sink. Some holes to let the slurry drain rather than splash across the counter top. Can do it the other way away from you too....
