One other way you can use it is as an everyday...
One other way you can use it is as an everyday strop.
You would do 3-5 laps on the stone and then as many laps as you like on the leather.
This was instructions I found on an old pike strop... -

Yes it is a smaller stone so the x stroke is needed. Shouldn't be a problem if you are use to the x stroke.
As to having to lap it I did but probably didn't really need to as it was pretty flat... -

I use it dry doing 10 to 15 laps for touch ups....
I use it dry doing 10 to 15 laps for touch ups. Then strop and shave. If I use it as a finishing stone I probably do 30 laps typically. Then strop and test.

I have it and use the slate like a barber hone....
I have it and use the slate like a barber hone. Mine seems to be more in the 8-12k range. It's a very nice piece.
