Yes they are differant woods Doweled and glued together.
I do not Like large knots,My gold standard is 24mm,Have been using the same 7 brushes for almost 10 yrs.

Just saw your post on the really Big 30mm (nice work) They are big,I think almost to big.
The brush on the right is a 30, the one on the left is a 38,thats REALLY BIG:).

I do want to hear about the lathe,good luck in getting good solid Horn off the bay,I have had bad luck finding pces useable for making brushes:(

You have done nice work just using a drill press (a vertical rotery tool) you can do the same with a metal lathe with a few modifications.

Metal lathe will work fine,Just need to make a tool rest.

Do not do alot of phenolics,one thing I did learn is that spindle speed is very important.
The other thing I learned is that HSS cuts better than Carbide,why I have no clue.

Shane,with your hand tools,make sure the cutting edge is exact center to the workpiece,or a few degs above center.

So you actually use your Brushes before you market them?
