It is a controlled rust proceedure and the nitric would take out even a semi-finished edge in a heartbeat.

Would love to see someone do some real rust...
Would love to see someone do some real rust bluing using nitric acid,is messy,dangerous,time consuming work,but that old time winchester royal blue is to die for.
