I have always learned and then later been told that MEK is the best solvent for wood finishing. It initiates cross linking of unsaturated polyester resins according to wikipedia. YMMV

Looks like the tang could be a bit longer to more comfortably fit a finger with the scales a bit less acute (opened less then 90 degrees up). I tend to prefer the scales open about 45-50 degrees up...

I like the new sketch much better and agree with UPD's comments. I also agree with the pointed pivot end being a bit much T-I and think I would prefer a slightly more extended but rounded shape. ...
