More of a read, experienced and informed guess. I would call it "fake" in the quantity that some sellers try to pass them off as early American straight razors, intentionally misrepresented or not....

I think they're not so much fakes as a very common razor type in the east (China) that have been made for a very long time in huge quantity, so it's a legitimate razor, just who knows about the age....

I used to have this one, but alas not anymore. Not sure about the age, but definitely 1700s. Didn't have any markings and was obviously hand-done...
