That's why I've been looking over ebay for a cheap but good old brush. That's exactly what I'm looking to do.
What did you do to drill out the old glue without harming the body of the brush? -

I see them on ebay a lot. I've been scanning vintage brushes looking for a good handle to reknot. Attractive brushes, look like boar in all the ebay pics I keep seeing. Very popular brush it...

Why not cut the old knot out and epoxy a new one in again? Then you'll know what the hair is but have a good new brush that still ties you to your past and family.
