Found my dad's brush... the one I used as a kid.
Some of you may recall that I said that I used to lather up and use an empty razor handle to shave with my dad when I was just a kid. Dad said it was most likely thrown out with the set. He was right. The set is gone. But the brush I used was still hidden in the bathroom. So the nice brass set was gone along with the marble handled badger. It still is kind of touching to see the old thing I used. It is a Ever Ready C40.
On to the question. I have no idea if it is boar, badger or synthetic. Doesn't feel like badger. Any thoughts? Also any thoughts on age?

Why not cut the old knot out and epoxy a new one in again? Then you'll know what the hair is but have a good new brush that still ties you to your past and family.

Some background, I guess. Dad would usually squirt some colgate in a bowl and I would lather from there. It never really bloomed. I am thinking of keeping it as is, I kinda want to break it in. I was just wondering if anyone had info on these.

I see them on ebay a lot. I've been scanning vintage brushes looking for a good handle to reknot. Attractive brushes, look like boar in all the ebay pics I keep seeing. Very popular brush it seems.
Hell, if the hair is still good, then go for it man, what have you got to lose? When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching

I had been googling for a little while and it was coming up as both badger and boar. I think your right on the boar. Also it keeps saying 1950s-1960s. Maybe this brush was my dad's brush and he never really fell into brush lathering then let me use it as a kid?

Looks like boar to me. Looks really good too, I say fire it up and give it a short!
