I guess it or any number of other solvents would do the trick, but I like keeping solvents and my hones well apart. I especially like the idea of using the tape itself to clean up its own mess. :)

Yeah, sorry I wasn't very clear. I am talking about adhesive residue on the spine.

Glen - I'm using the 700 now and the only thing I don't like is its tendency to leave an adhesive residue behind. Is the 88 any better in that regard? Thanks.
