Never had a problem with a fall out zone while face lathering and don't really use bowls/scuttles either. I guess it does have it's uses though to counter those two problems.

You have a few options when using shaving cream. You can put a bit on the brush tips and lather up, spread a bit around your face and lather up or put a bit in a scuttle/bowl to build lather in it...
