OTH, why would one expect real tortoise shell scales on a new production razor like a Dovo when the ban has been in place for so long. The mid 1970s I believe.

You are safe with the one from Classic Edge, Phil puts a fine edge on them before they go out. The one from Fendrihan I am not so sure about but I believe it just might be the factory edge you get...
