My guess would that these "gift" versions were reserved for VIPs only. That is the first set I have seen and would bet the workmanship is top notch in those.

Seems the mind set of razor producers in the Soviet era was very similar to the mind set of western barbers when straight razors were allowed to be used. I don't ever recall seeing a barber here use...

Had a Ruskie given to me and it took a fine edge and shaved well. No idea if they are all mostly like that.
