    Just ink the stabilizer and if it hits you will see it and know where to remove a bit.

    If you do end up removing a lot of the stabilizer, I use a Dremel with a fine sanding drum at slow speed, and pay attention to the direction of rotation, for just the thick part of the stabilizer.
