I finish lap my 12K with a 300 grit plate with fine results.
I did lap my 20K GS with a 1& 4K post 140 and 300 plates, though it is probably more that needed.
I refresh with a translucent ark slip....

Are you lapping to get the stone flat or just for maintenance and slurry?

If you are flattening you really need a much lower grit in the 140-320 grit range to flatten.

Once flat you can smooth...
