I would not use the thuri with lather, just water. So if its fine for you stay on the coti with lather and than change to the thuri with just water.

Depends on the quality of the coticule. If you are coming down from slurry to water on a good, fine coti than you should use the thuri only with water and you need just a few strokes. After that...
