Since the spine isn't hardened, and the old blade was un-useable, I used a butane torch to heat up the solder and placed the blade in the vice vertically and applied pressure to the tail to lever it...

A bit of progress on the frameback. Took everything apart, scales going for a soak, spine cleaned up a bit. Thinned the blade down, but ran out of belts.

Traced out the shape on some O1 stock, along with a "handling nub" for HT that will be removed afterwards. I placed it along the spine side of the blade, so any chance of heat build up at the edge...

Separated the spine and blade by putting the blade in a vice and heating it up with a torch. Came out quite easily by pushing down on the tail.

I'm going to cut the piece a bit bigger than needed, and leave something to hold onto while I thin it on the grinder, then grind off the hand hold before HT. I suspect there should'nt be much post HT...

Picked up some 1/8" O1 last night, its a bit thick, but was the thinnest I could find. Going to take the torch to the old one this weekend and see how stuck in there it is.

There's that, as well as the "oilfield premium". Basically, anyone that sells/builds for the oil/gas industry (basically everyone here) adds 50% to what the normal rate should be elsewhere.

It's odd, I generally like a 6/8" razor, bit when I started drawing out and shaping it, I eyeballed it and thought "that looks 6/8", turned out it was 15/16". It seems so much smaller for some reason.
