Not that the plate would be heavy in absolute terms, but relative to the other tools of the trade, a lapping plate seems heavy and bulky. I guess i just got fixated on the little plate. I'll end up...

Fair enough. I wanted it more for slurriyng than lapping.

I was thinking maybe using a water jet to cut it.

So my best option is to buy a full size and cut it down?
