It's on it's way to be professionally honed already. Still hold off once I get it back?

So what's the major advantage to learning with something cheap? Do I run the risk of damaging the one I have? Wouldn't a cheapy be more troublesome unless I get it honed too?

I'm just getting into straight shaving, and my grandfather said he had something for me.
Can anyone tell me about this razor? I'm assuming it needs to be honed :D
