Thanks for all of the advice!
I have been rinsing then carefully shaking the brush and drying it off on a clean dry towel using a motion similar to lathering. I have noticed far better results... -

I was under the impression that I wasn't supposed to squeeze the brush. Just a flick to get the excess water off before hanging.

A fan is a good idea! It is also likely the problem will get better as soon as it gets cold enough to run the heat :) It has been unusually warm this year in Wisconsin. :) -

I have a silver tip badger hair brush, and it stays wet for a couple of days. I read online that it needs to be dry or it may get funky, like mold or smelly.
I have it hanging in a stand hair...
