Now you got me curious. I'm gonna lap this finer (I just lapped it for knives) and give it a try.

I started the lapping and stone color is light brownish yellow and slightly translucent. Color is mostly smooth without much mottling in the lapped areas. It's very hard and taking ages.

Meh, I can dump it at the local antiques market (probably for a profit) if it doesn't work out.

Man, I sure hope so. Seller says the color is distinctly yellow, so I'm hoping to get lucky.

Either way, I won't be broken hearted. I figured since it had a strop on the lid, it might be a finer stone.

Found this for $35 while digging through the crap on our favorite auction site. 8 1/4 x 2 1/4 size, box has a leather strop on top. I need a finisher, hopefully it's one of them there Belgianese...
