I cut the rough shapes with the bandsaw and then thin and shape on the grinder... Platen head to thin and wheel to shape.. I use a full face mask with filters..

I think that lead would be too heavy because the wedge needs to be thick because the tang is very thick...also i will line the wedge with a metal, more weight.

Maybe. ..The problem with translucent horn for a wedge is that it will be black due to lack of light . There is lining and collars to consider also. I might just try to keep the whole thing light...
