On the san mai, the scales are horn. The fat brush, the handle is vintage honey horn, the wood on my first razor is Koa, and the wood handled brush is stabilized spalted maple.

No, there will be a visible bright grind line as it honed, it can stay dark if the user etches it again, otherwise, it will abrade like any Damascus pattern.
