a even marked an edge with a marker and checked it under a magnifier, bevel looked good, haven't tried the tape layers though,.. I might try it thanks :)

@Laurens: thanks, I tried to hone this one on the naniwa stones only (not DMT, which I tried to use once for setting the bevel), and there was no problem setting the bevel, it just didn't get sharp...

I used bluing stuff made by Ballistol.

not so long ago I did this (click) resto , unfortunately I didn't try honing the blade before and it turned out (despite my great expectations) that I' cant get it nowhere near peanut butter knife...
