    Default Bur Solingen - resto/recliclation

not so long ago I did this (click) resto , unfortunately I didn't try honing the blade before and it turned out (despite my great expectations) that I' cant get it nowhere near peanut butter knife sharp ... so i decided to find a similar blade in my stack and use the scales that I like on that one...

    the before..

..scales were no good broken black plastic ones..

and after (tang and point blued, thanks sharptonn)

thanks for looking and hope you like it

PS. haven't honed this one yet either so am not sure I am even going to try (joke).. I guess some people never learn

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check to see if it takes an edge BEFORE putting in all that work!

NICE looking blade by the way!

always, always, always issue: ... since some people (me) never (=have difficulties to) learn, I hope it won't come to the "third time is a charm" situation

With every job you do you gain experience and knowledge. Ive become quite good at pinning & depinning from all the tare-downs I had to do because it wasent perfect.

Turned out good! That is the largest 'Germany' stamp I have seen. The bluing goes well with it!

Nice job. I'd seen the previous razor you put these scales on and liked them already.

You sure it won't take an edge? I received a razor a few weeks ago for honing and it appeared to have been honed like a kitchen knife. It took me over an hour of blood, sweat and violence on the DMT8C to reset the damage and get a proper bevel. It wore out 4 or 5 layers of tape, but it did shave nicely when I was done

@Laurens: thanks, I tried to hone this one on the naniwa stones only (not DMT, which I tried to use once for setting the bevel), and there was no problem setting the bevel, it just didn't get sharp at all, tried another one in the mean time and it became sharp in no time,.. started again with the problematic one and still no success)..
