I didnt detect any smell from the scales, especially not that camphor smell you get when sanding celluloid (that stuff is yucky).

I will keep an eye on it though, I didnt know much about this...

I ended up masking the etch with tape cut to the right size.

I picked this up recently and I would like advice on how to tackle the areas around the goldwash. I usually use a dremel wheel but I think this calls for hand sanding.
What products do you recommend...
