Well I use cleats all the time on my other bike, i would guess that the guy you saw was new to cleats. The guy writing the article is full of poo, if I don't want my bike to tip over i clip out...

Thats where the brake comes in, along with slaloming down the hill, i am seriously considering bringing my cleats up to use with this bike, i keep coming out of the foot straps/ toe clips.

Good work. Remember that a single speed isn't as fast as a multi speed. I can spend close on 30 mins doing about 9 km on the fixed.

I reckon that reflective bits are much more effective than lights, and the batteries dont run out, besides i have noticed a lot of bike riders with really bright lights seem to end up aiming them...
