The pins are brass. Quite honestly I'm not sure of the collar material since I used what came off it. Feels (and were rusted) like steel, but not sure of the exact makeup. Maybe someone else knows :)...

Well here's a workbench shot. I need to get the ends of the scales equal and probably polish up the collars and pins. But on second thought I just want to shave with it already!! It centers fairly...

Got the scales cleaned up. Used thin CA to wick down into the hairlines, sanded and used some Flitz. Who knew all that beauty was still under there!

Ha yeah I know what you mean. When it looks like the paper isn't doing anything I feel good about the steel :)

Rough sanded the scales today, probably sometime this week :)

Done all the sanding I can handle.
Went back to 320 and all the way to 3000.
Getting the 320 was the biggest help of all (thanks pups).

I went to 220 again and back up. If I twist in the light I can see some verticals but I wonder if that'll show up under the crocus finish?

Well I got to 400 on one side. Did a quick 1000 and polish to have a look. Looks decent in this view:

Buuuuut, flip it into the light and I can see some lower grit scratches when I did...

Haha still sanding. Got the big scratches out on one side, now onto the next....

Yeah good point - I'll see if I have a pinpoint for my indicator. And +1 on 0.002" being a lot. It's slow going!

Well after a looong time at 120 grit, I went to 220 and spent some time getting the scratches out.
I also couldn't help myself use the dremel with some taped on paper in a few hard to reach areas. ...

I think the polished spine/crocus blade is what I'll try. We'll see how I do. I'll be consulting wolfpack and 10pups along the way :)
