Exactly, I think with the angle of less than 90 degrees the Gem/Everready helps to lay the blade flatter to the face.
The test would be to fit an Astra into a Gem and go for it. :hmmm:

I should explain first that as a SR shaver I don't use the DE's all that much and this is my first foray into the world of SE's.
I have a large supply of Astras so haven't had the need to try other...

I won an Ever-Ready SR also without blades.
I am a straight razor shaver but would like to experience these two SE razors.
