Thanks Neil, Now I see what's going on. So this strop is "inside out" to strop compared to a standard "skin side" strop.
(We do normally strop on the "skin side" correct?) -

Strop Info Needed
I have found an excellent strop and I don't know if it's even leather.
I have seen strop backs like this before but I don't know the material it's made from.
It sure looks and feels like leather...
