Wow - so this razor appears much older than I had thought, which also explains the old wooden case and strop. Turns out there is a strop/paste board on both sides of the box, and the razor face...

You are well experienced and are 100% correct - the blade is loose in the scales due to the pin.

Haven't touched the blade or the scales, it's in the "future project" category currently...bang on...

How would you clean up the scales?

Just use some metal polish?

Just use some 3k grit? Would that work? Or should I give it a 10 or 15 passes on the DMT?:o

I'll leave it all original, just maybe try and bring the etch out a little bit, but then again I guess that is, "patina", and it's long and gone to the time when I should have a razor with,...

I think they are, they are metal for sure. I thought from the pics they may be some type of "faux" scales, plastic made to look like metal or something, but they are metal without a doubt. "Ting"...

If lines up perfectly with my Revisor 8/8, so I'd say 15/16 for sure...but to my eye, it's bang on 8/8...

Think the most I may do is a little light sanding with 3000 grit wet/dry that I have, making sure not to lose the etch, just to clean it up...maybe a tap of two to tighten the pin, and then get it on...

Before I take this to the stones, going to have to decide what to do...

The box and strop are actually in superb shape, and it's obvious the razor is unused, never been honed at all, semi-dull "factory" edge. Slightly...

I think the translation on the blade reads, "The One Bid Wonder Razor"......;)

I know...was only fooling around...old box with a strop attached...:o
