That's a very nice etch... and probably some very deep pitting under the black. It depends what kind of end product you are looking for. If you want to get rid of the pitting AND save the etching...

Couple new projects:
7/8 W&B near wedge. Cleaned it up in the vibratory tumbler. 3 super small pits, still has original grind marks. Original horn scales snapped, making a new set out of honey...

6/8" W&B, 5/8" Big Chief "Pathfinder", 9/16" Our Best Steel..?, current project no name, but a wreath like object stamp. Blade is currently in vibratory tumbler.
