Understanding the utility of slurry really has me almost believing that I just might be able to take an edge from a King 1k to bevel set straight to the 12k with a series of slurry progression right...

I really worked wonders for me. The 12k by itself wasn't touching the edge of that F&R. I didn't think it would without probably hours of honing. That lil' Nagura slurried me up a serious cuttin'...

Well, he not only did that but suggested a Nagura "slurry" stone to make it even more...
