If I start out with 3 layers of tape and rolling x strokes and the bevel is to small I can always take a layer of tape off. it's hard to make a large bevel small though.

Don't know right now . When it get's here i'll measure it. you may be right. if the spine is not very thick I would need to start with more tape. the tape I use is Scotch 3M .0085 thick vinyl...

That's what really caught my eye. Now after cleaning and polishing then comes the honing. I've honed razors with a lot of smile before but not quite that much. I'll see what 2 layers of tape looks...
