bruno- by any chance are you saying that the hardened and unhardened portions would etch unevenly or to different contrast levels? not an issue of the steels not etching if not hardened but an issue...

very nice, i like the combo of blade design with the scale material. such beautiful steel, at some point down the road i need to play with some fun stuff like this!
