It improves over my 12k and its shaves...
It improves over my 12k and its shaves wonderfully off the stone without stropping. Thuringian? Don't know the answer to that but its my finest finisher by far, and seems like a pretty fast stone...

Nah its never seen oil, water absorbtion was too...
Nah its never seen oil, water absorbtion was too good and didn't bead up which happens on any oilstone I've seen.
