T. Noonan & Co. "Modock Hone"
Snagged this on ebay yesterday, looks to be a natural stone but unsure, heres the info from the auction + pictures....cant find any info though anywhere. Figured it was worth the 42ish bucks I payed to take a chance though.
Box marked: MODOCK HONE; This Hone is without doubt the finest Hone ever offered to the public. Imported exclusively by T. NOONAN & COMPANY 38 PORTLAND ST., BOSTON; DIRECTIONS: Wet the Hone with water and then run well with the rubber before starting to hone each razor. DON'T USE SOAP OR OIL.
Measurements: 2 3/8" x 7" sharpening surface. Heavy brass base--1 pound 10 ounces
Anyone have any info?
Sadly the slurry stone is gone but no biggie! Cant wait to recieve it and see what I bought...

T. Noonan & Co. "Modock Hone"
On the first picture it seems to look like a natural, probably a thuringian, it says a brass base...
I think the package does not fit to the stone ...could be though the rubber is missing....but keep us updated on this one....███▓▒░░.RAZORLOVESTONES.░░▒▓███

Im pretty sure its because the slurry stone is missing, was my first thought as well till I read the info from the box and it mentioned the "rubber" pretty reputable razor company so I figured if they were in the business of importing thuringians then itd possibly be a nice high quality stone....plus the stone size seemed great.
I thought my RAD was bad, HAD has now set in....

Thanked: 4249Since T. Noonan & Co was a barbers supply co, importing German razors with their name it is highly probable that this Modock Hone could be a Thuringian. Thin hone,on a brass base.

Thats what I am banking on, figured for 42 bucks it was worth the gamble, and looked thuringian. Bout to buy a couple thuringians of different colors in the next week so should be set on finishers soonish. Need to get some intermediate stones though, might order a 4/8k norton combo today as well

When you see a vintage natural stone with a description that says "don't use oil" or something similar, it's probably a Thuringian. And the slurry stone was used on Thuringians and coticules mostly. I'm pretty sure your stone is a Thuringian.
