Mhh definately a type of Schist i would say...interesting is the colour pattern on the surface....

Just from looking at the pictures the surface (both on the sides and on the lapped side) looks a bit more coarse then i would think a thuringian should look, but thats not a proper evaluated statement just a interpretation from me....

There was a post here on SRP about thuringian stones from Hatzicho were a picture of stones were shown suffering from "Mehlstein"...as there is this kind of brown green area in the last picture this just reminded me on the thread....

Does the stone look like a double sided natural "combo" of dark and light coloured stone or it's just me? If the stone has this, it's another characteristic of a Thuringian. And, it's not glued, is it?

Yes looks like two colours in my opinion...but the line is not completely moving straight along, this doesn not have to mean anything, what about oil or any other solution, Dennis, any signs this one was used with oil?

Yes it was held in the base by something like plaster

Nah its never seen oil, water absorbtion was too good and didn't bead up which happens on any oilstone I've seen.

Couple shots at 15x through a jewelers loupe.

Red dots only maybe 3 of them on the surface

Yes, you are right, this color difference could be because it was glued inside the box.

Smaller points seem like a darker blue-green, rest is a greenish yellow looking stone

It improves over my 12k and its shaves wonderfully off the stone without stropping. Thuringian? Don't know the answer to that but its my finest finisher by far, and seems like a pretty fast stone that leaves a mirrored bevel
